Boudoir Normalizes Self-Appreciation

I knew that as soon as Ms. B contacted me via Instagram to schedule her shoot and we started chatting, we were going to be a perfect fit. She’s authentic, honest and vibrant – and photographing her was just as fun as I imagined it would be!

I encourage you to read her testimonial – she explained normalizing self-appreciation and positive body image better than I ever could! Oh, and of course, enjoy her spicy gallery. 😇

How do you think your session went?
Amazing.

What was the best part of the experience for you?
Laughing with Alisha and completely being in a different element on a WEDNESDAY!

Now that you’ve completed your session and seen your images, is there something that you would have liked to tell your pre-session self to do, not do, or not to worry about?
I wasn’t worried about anything. I’d tell my pre-session self that she should have prioritized doing the session sooner!

How would you rate your body confidence post-session on a scale from 1-10?
9 (pre: 7)

How do your photos make you feel empowered? Do they make you feel seen? Describe how you might see something in yourself you haven’t seen in awhile (if you feel that way).
I love my images and look forward to sharing them, because I believe there is stigma attached to confident women with positive body image. I think it’s important to normalize expressions of self appreciation rather than feeling shamed into believing that you’re vain or a cold bitch if you actually like the way you look. That mentality is fed by the heteronormative narrative that keeps women vulnerable, our egos fragile, our minds full of self-doubt and teaches us that our feelings, self worth and confidence are meant to be confirmed only by male approval and attention. F**k That. I didn’t do this to get affirmation from anyone. I did it because I wanted to see the way I feel as an independent, successful, sexual, driven, passionate woman through the lens of an artist, like Alisha. She nailed it. She captured exactly how I feel. Oh yeah, I do hope people do enjoy my photos- even you, fellas 😉

“Here’s the thing about choosing to do boudoir with Alisha – there are literally no negatives. There’s not a con on the list. Woman owned business, check. Talent, experience, and complete professionalism, check. Empowering other women through boudoir and pursuit of their own businesses, check. The pro list could go on and on. Just know that every question you have in your head about doing boudoir (and some you didn’t know you have), Alisha has already thought about it and has the answer for you. Once you’ve picked your date, you’ll start getting straight forward emails that walk you through every step. She’s easy to communicate with and super responsive, not to mention funny, charming and completely delightful to hang out with. When you arrive for your shoot, you’ll feel completely at home in the company of Alisha and the team of women who help make it all happen. I promise.”
