This 30 Over 30 Project participant is a past client of mine, as well as a friend and a writer…so her blog post was written entirely by her. I hope you enjoy Candice’s story. 🥰
I am proof that broken things can bloom.
At 39, I’m a mother of two boys, a massage therapist, an artist, and a woman who has rebuilt her life more than once. I’ve survived abandonment, divorce, heartbreak, trauma, and seasons that tested every ounce of my faith, strength, and resilience.
There were times when survival was the only goal. Times when I questioned everything I thought I knew about love, trust, and myself. But somewhere in the middle of the hardest chapters, I discovered who I truly was.
I’ve learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s choosing to keep moving forward despite it. I’ve learned that strength isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s getting up every day, loving your children well, doing the next right thing, and believing there is still beauty ahead when life feels uncertain.
Today, I help others heal through my work, nurture creativity through art and gardening, and pour my heart into raising two incredible boys. My scars are no longer something I try to hide; they are evidence of battles fought, lessons learned, and a life fully lived.
What I’ve learned is that beauty isn’t found in perfection. It’s found in the woman who gets back up. The woman who keeps loving. The woman who keeps believing.
My story isn’t about what I’ve lost. It’s about what I’ve grown.
And like a wildflower, I’ve learned that some of the most beautiful growth happens in the hardest places.
I am not defined by what happened to me. I am defined by what I became because of it.
