You Are Enough Right Now: Lisa’s Story

At 46, Lisa has built a life filled with the things that matter most to her: a 26-year marriage, three beloved cats, quiet creative hobbies, and adventures on the back of a motorcycle with her husband whenever they can get away.

She describes herself as a stay-at-home wife and home assistant for her mother-in-law, but there’s much more to Lisa than the roles she fills. She spends her free time reading, crocheting, beading, and crafting—always creating something with her hands.

When Lisa received an email about the 30 Over 30: Proof of Her Project, something about it simply spoke to her. She couldn’t quite explain why, but she listened to that feeling. I’m so glad she did.

One of the biggest lessons Lisa has learned is that everyone is carrying something you can’t see. That realization has shaped the way she moves through the world, which is with kindness, empathy, and understanding toward others. More recently, she’s been working on extending that same compassion to herself, even though, as she admits, that’s often the harder part.

For years, Lisa believed she was “too big” to wear pretty clothes or anything form-fitting. Like so many women, she let that belief dictate what she thought she was allowed to enjoy.

Eventually, something shifted, and she realized that most people are far more concerned with their own insecurities than they are with judging anyone else.

“So why shouldn’t I wear whatever I want?”

It’s a simple realization, but an incredibly freeing one.

Today, Lisa is most proud of the life she’s built with her husband and of her ability to make people smile. Those are the things she values most.

People often assume she’s more confident than she actually feels. Behind the smile is someone who still replays conversations in her head, wondering if she said the wrong thing or if someone walked away thinking negatively about her. It’s a reminder that confidence isn’t the absence of self-doubt—it’s choosing to show up anyway.

When she walked into her session, Lisa hoped to leave feeling sexy, confident, proud of herself, and a little bit wowed.

Her advice to other women who keep waiting until they’re “more confident,” “more ready,” or have finally lost the weight?

Don’t wait. You never know what tomorrow will bring. You are enough right now.

When asked to finish the sentence “The woman I’ve become is…” Lisa answered:

“…stronger than I ever thought I could be, and someone my younger self would be proud of.”

That may be the clearest definition of success there is.

If there’s one final lesson Lisa hopes others take away from her story, it’s this: surround yourself with people who genuinely love you, support you, and see you for who you truly are.
